I have a bicycle from the ’50s and it’s in good condition but the paint is really bad. It needs a new paint job.

How much would a paint job cost for a bicycle?

Are there other ways to paint it at home?

take the bike apart, sand it with 220 grit sand paper, use two coats red oxide primer on the whole bike, sand lightly with 360 grit sand. Clean with alcohol, put three light coats paint, 15 minutes apart. ( Red oxide primer and paint comes in spray bombs at wal-mart or any auto parts store).

I am wondering how to skim a floating brake disc off a motorbike. Because the disc has the ability to float and therefore centralise itself within the brake caliper, will the disc not just push away from the tool?

I want to make a mandrel to accept the disc mount spider thingy for my lathe but need to know if it is possible to face them off this way before I do so.

Thanks in advance.

brake disc’s are hard & tough. they will quickly dull even carbide tool bits.
you can bolt them to a face plate & refinish them with a tool post grinder if they arent warped very much but dont take more than about .020 (1/2 mm)from each side or they will probably be below tolerance on thickness.
if you try it with a carbide tool, grind & set the tool with about the same sharp hook & relief you would use for cutting aluminum & use plenty of coolant.

Gloucestershire Police have released footage of an altercation involving a cyclist and a pedestrian as they appeal for those involved and any witnesses to come forward.

The incident is believed to have happened at around 12.25pm on Saturday January 28 on the B4425 at Ampney Coln near Bibury.

On this day a woman called Gloucestershire Police to report that she had been assaulted by a cyclist who had been holding up traffic.

Officers have made a number of enquiries to locate this woman but it appears that the contact details she gave were incorrect.

As part of their enquiries officers seized footage that had been posted on Youtube that is believed to be connected to the same incident.

The footage shows a man cycling along a road when he is approached by a woman on foot who pushes him; they then get into an altercation.

Investigating officers have been working to identify the individuals, but to no avail. They are now turning to the public for their help.

The individuals captured on the film, or anyone who witnessed the incident, are asked to contact Gloucestershire Police on 101, quoting incident number 187 of January 28.

You can also give information anonymously by contacting the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via www.crimestoppers-uk.org and you may receive a reward if someone is arrested and charged.

Its a serious topic, why not to buy a motorbike or a few tips you can use to persuade someone not to buy one. If all else fails some tips to try and keep them safe.
Just remember riding a motorbike is dangerous and a motorbike rider is 60 times more likely to be killed on the roads in the UK than a car driver.
